Another possible setback for global warming activists today, as supreme court judges unanimously vote that greenhouse gas emissions must be regulated by the EPA and not the courts. The lawsuit was filed by 6 states in 2004 when regulation was done differently. At that time the EPA wasn’t permitted to set regulations, but rather was only able to do so under a ruling in 2007 which required them to do so.

The sluggish process angered citizens that want their voices heard when working to protect their local environment. Many are claiming that excessive pollutants are a nuisance to their surrounding neighborhood and should be kept in check. We at Nateco are committed to going above and beyond these standards, and invite you to contact the EPA and ask for stricter regulations that surpass simply fining environmental polluters and stopping them in their tracks. Comment and be heard on the EPA website here: http://www.epa.gov/epahome/comments.htm

Joseph DiGangi, a biochemist and molecular biologist, recently offered us some news on flame retardant chemicals inside of carpeting that are now considered toxic. As part of the Scientists with the International POPs Elimination Network, he is devoted to emilinating POPs (or persistant organic pollutants) from our homes.

DiGangi recently tested recycled foam padding from six countries where it is used, and concluded that 23 of 26 samples from the United States, Canada and Hungary contained one or more flame retardants that are considered toxic. Not only does this have implications for our homes, but also our environment in the long term. When thrown away these chemicals leak into the surrounding soil and groundwater and eventually can make it into reservoirs, plants, and animals. “They travel long distances and build up in the food chain,” he warns.

Our rugs from Prairie Rugs are completely sustainable, natural, and can be easily thrown away and degraded without damaging our surrounding environment. Please take your environment into consideration the next time you shop for rugs and we promise to deliver you safe, ecological products for your home, your family, and the future.

Britain recently dropped a controversial plan to sell off virtually all public forests by 2020, saving a massive 258,000 hectares of trees for the public good. The plan would have destroyed the country’s landscape as we know it. By an impressive show of force and opinion, protesters and conservationists dissuaded politicians from making this grave error.

The environment secretary, Caroline Spelman, took the responsibility upon herself for having signed off on this decision in the first place, and noted “I am sorry, we got this one wrong, but we have listened to people’s concerns.”

This is monumental progress for the future of Britain’s forests, and hopefully a turning point for the future of forests in our own neighborhoods as well. We are particularly concerned with the future of forests, and thus utilize sustainable and fast-growing bamboo in a majority of our products, and adhere to the CARB standard for any other hardwoods. View the Breeze collection for some of our sustainable bamboo products.

Nateco, a new website devoted to eco-friendly and contemporary furniture, celebrates our grand opening today. We invite you to browse through our furniture at http://www.nateco.com

Nateco consists of designers and wholesalers who have been involved in the furniture business for over 30 years and who have decided to set up a furniture retail website in order to reach the consumer directly with great design at an affordable price. At the same time it was also decided that Nateco should make a more concerted effort to promote within its production lines such sustainable practices that assure a better environment for future generations to come.

Our website is dedicated solely to uniquely designed furniture and furniture accessories that abides by the principals of sustainability which includes using such materials as recycled and recyclable metal such as stainless steel, certified woods, natural materials such as bamboo, CARB compliant wood composites, non toxic glues, and water based stains.

It must prevent the further depletion of all forests (not just rainforests!). Forest management such as or reforestation is
essential. The methods of production that aid to further air or water pollution must be limited and eventually eliminated over time.

In production Nateco is now more conscious of those toxic materials in production (such as glues) or even packing (such as Styrofoam) that do not decompose and only add to the already overfilled landfills.

At present this company, Nateco, is a student, learning and improving on its future product decisions. The company has already eliminated such processing as chrome plating and the use of polyresins or toxic glues and paints in production, both contributors to air and water pollution.

Join us in our mission for a cleaner earth, and we promise to impress.
